Both spent years as Nutanix SEs, and Chris was a Nutanix customer before that. Moving to hyperconverged infrastructure meant virtualization generalists could manage the whole environment, and the platform did what it promised.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Andy came from the other direction. As a self-described \u201cold school Fibre Channel SAN guy\u201d at IBM and Lenovo, he spent years debating Nutanix\u2019s merits with his brother, who was a Nutanix SE at the time. Two things changed his mind:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li><strong>The Nutanix Bible<\/strong>, which laid out openly how the platform works, including how it handles failures<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>A better question about performance:<\/strong> a storage array may do a million IOPS, but does your VM actually need it?<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Vendor Side vs. Partner Side<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">As Nutanix SEs, both were glad to support whatever hardware a customer preferred. On the partner side, the job is bigger. Andy describes it as owning the outcome of the whole project, not just the software:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Helping choose hardware based on pricing and lead times<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Confirming power, rack space, and network ports, including moves from 10 GbE to 25 GbE<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Checking compatibility with backup, security, and other existing tools<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Planning how every workload moves over during a hypervisor change<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Pulling in licensing, professional services, and anything else the project needs to succeed<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">What Customers Are Asking For Right Now<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">A few themes keep coming up in conversations with clients:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li><strong>Hypervisor renewals with little time to plan an exit.<\/strong> Teams don\u2019t want to pay much more for the same environment, and the renewal window is often too short to evaluate alternatives properly.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Rising hardware costs.<\/strong> Prices have climbed sharply, so many teams are reconsidering large capital purchases in favor of financing or operational models.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Hybrid and cloud options.<\/strong> Some workloads belong on-prem, some in Azure or AWS, and some in XenTegra\u2019s own cloud.
