He’s our guest today due to the content that we’re going to be covering, but there’s nothing to stop him from attending future podcasts. So, and that encompasses, of course, Citrix and all the other technologies that kind of complement that as well. So, been working with Citrix since the Winframe days, so, you know, it’s been quite a while.

14
00:02:07.660 –> 00:02:16.249
Randy.Price: I guess you can say, since it was in black and white, right, that’s kind of the joke, something I make sometimes, so. I think if we have listeners on here who are Zentegra customers, they know the voice of Randy, and probably have worked with him on scoping or some other things relative to some of the services that we sell, the products that we sell, so…

16
00:02:34.800 –> 00:02:57.459
Bill Sutton: Probably be a familiar voice to a lot of people, but if you’re not a customer, then you’ll hopefully one day encounter Randy in the course of working with us. So, the topic for today is a rather timely one. Many of you probably have received, or did receive, an email from Citrix directly, and you might very well have also received one from us. It’s Integra.

17
00:02:57.460 –> 00:03:06.849
Bill Sutton: Detailing some changes to the licensing system that Citrix is using going forward. So, we are basing the podcast on

19
00:03:21.500 –> 00:03:28.960
Bill Sutton: on a blog article, like we normally do. A lot of our other ecosystem partners are doing a very similar approach towards this, and it’s really

40
00:06:13.530 –> 00:06:22.090
Todd Smith – Citrix: It’s taking that subscription-based licensing model, right, and being able to, migrate it towards more of a

41
00:06:22.290 –> 00:06:28.150
Todd Smith – Citrix: Real-time, consistent behavior-based modeling for licensing.

42
00:06:29.840 –> 00:06:47.099
Bill Sutton: Yeah, so, I mean, good points, very good points, Todd, and in the article itself, relative to the modern architecture, it does talk a good bit about the license file and no longer really needing those, and I think that one of the keys is you still need a license server.

43
00:06:47.100 –> 00:06:56.840
Bill Sutton: Right? You still need a server on-premises, but really all that license server is doing is enforcement to some degree, but it’s communicating with the cloud-based license server.

44
00:06:56.840 –> 00:07:08.389
Bill Sutton: which then, when there’s a renewal, when you renew your SKUs, like every year, every 3 years, every 5 years, if you’re on-prem, and that’s a thing we should bring up right now, before I get too deep in this. If you’re a DAS customer.

45
00:07:08.390 –> 00:07:31.450
Bill Sutton: This doesn’t really affect you unless you are running PVS on-premises, you run Unicon, you’re running ZenServer, you’re running Netscaler, and I’m leaving something out, probably. Yeah, basically, that’s what it boils down to. If you’re running Citrix DAS in the cloud, and you’ve got… you’re using Gateway Service, and you’re using VDAs on-premises.

46
00:07:31.450 –> 00:07:36.530
Bill Sutton: on a hypervisor other than Zen Server, and you’re not using PBS,

47
00:07:36.660 –> 00:07:46.629
Bill Sutton: you likely don’t need to worry about this unless you’re using some of the new features, new additional features included in the Universal Hybrid Multi-Cloud license, correct?

48
00:07:47.680 –> 00:07:48.490
Randy.Price: Correct. Correct.

49
00:07:49.680 –> 00:08:07.980
Bill Sutton: So, obviously, you know, some of the benefits of this, I’m not… no longer, like you said, Todd, having to manage the license file, automatically getting updates to your entitlements based on when they’re renewed, they are there and available to you. And then, of course, we don’t have that license server as a single point of failure.

50
00:08:07.980 –> 00:08:10.010
Bill Sutton: For user sessions.

51
00:08:10.130 –> 00:08:19.990
Bill Sutton: Which helps improve the stability of the environment. Randy, you want to comment on here? Maybe talk about some of the way this works and the way… way you get this going?

52
00:08:20.350 –> 00:08:26.319
Randy.Price: Yeah, and I was just gonna mention, too, going back to what you said about the no more license file requirement, right? So,

53
00:08:26.850 –> 00:08:34.500
Randy.Price: I typically will perform a lot of our Citrix micro-assessments, which is a free offering for a lot of our customers, right, or complementary offering.

54
00:08:34.500 –> 00:08:52.699
Randy.Price: And I can tell you the number of times I’ve went to a customer, and they have went through their renewal, but they have not downloaded and implemented that updated license file, right? Sort of indicating that. So, as they move forward with the newer upgrades and things of this nature, and this is traditionally those CBAD customers that are running on-prem.

55
00:08:52.700 –> 00:08:57.099
Randy.Price: Right. Those sort of scenarios, this is really going to help, you know,

56
00:08:58.010 –> 00:09:17.620
Randy.Price: really helped to rectify some of those issues, especially as they go through upgrades and the warnings that were typically coming up, right, prior to Citrix adding some of that into the… into the workflow for the upgrades. Users would go through, but they would attempt to upgrade, and then realize, oh, my license file is not working, right? And so then they would have to go and download. So this is really going to help to… to also

57
00:09:17.620 –> 00:09:32.550
Randy.Price: rectify some of that as well. But it’s, there’s a couple of things. One, to go through this process, and again, there’s several different products that you just mentioned that were impacted, right? Traditionally, anything running on-prem is really what we’re focused on, and that could be

58
00:09:32.550 –> 00:09:51.699
Randy.Price: you know, whether it’s CVAD, or PVS, or Netscaler, or ZenServer, or Unicon, there’s a couple of different things, right? We want to make sure, one, that we’re running a supported version, and I think we’ll probably talk about that here in a moment, the versions across the stacks there, what is required, and that we are,

59
00:09:51.880 –> 00:10:16.789
Randy.Price: we’re taking advantage of that, we’re updating our license server, and for the Netscaler aspect, we’re running a version of Netscaler console as well that’s supporting the license activation service. So, we go through this process, we’re going to register, perform that one-time registration. Now, it says it’s a one-time registration, but I’ll probably put a little asterisk there with a caveat in the sense that if your license server, and Citrus actually calls this out, if your license server changes for any reason, maybe the macro

60
00:10:16.790 –> 00:10:28.679
Randy.Price: address changes, the FQDN changes, things of that nature, it will require you to go back through and re-register, if you will, right? So there’s some little things to be aware of. It is a one-time registration, but if any of those sort of things

61
00:10:28.680 –> 00:10:32.900
Randy.Price: change on that license server or Netscaler console if you’re running on-prem.

62
00:10:33.080 –> 00:10:35.680
Randy.Price: You will need to go back through and re-register, so…

63
00:10:35.830 –> 00:10:44.859
Randy.Price: And then you’re just going to activate the service. So actually, the license… the way, you know, you kind of look through this, the license activation, or registration with the license activation service.

64
00:10:45.120 –> 00:10:54.880
Randy.Price: is fairly simple, right? It’s really the customer’s preparing to ensure that they’re running a version that is supported by the license activation service, whether it be

65
00:10:54.880 –> 00:11:06.569
Randy.Price: CVAD, or PVS, or, you know, the Netscaler slash Netscaler console, if they’re running that on-prem, to be able to support that. So that’s some things that customers will just have to take into account from a migration planning perspective.

66
00:11:08.020 –> 00:11:16.490
Bill Sutton: Yeah, so one key thing here that we probably should call out that I think we’ve mentioned somewhat is this is a mandatory transition. So, if you do nothing.

67
00:11:16.560 –> 00:11:35.960
Bill Sutton: that on April 15th, if you have an on-premises environment, on April 15th, 2026, the legacy licensing will essentially cease to function, or… and or, you will no longer have support if you attempt to run it with an older license file. Presumably, an older license file would be, would be,

68
00:11:36.250 –> 00:11:42.349
Bill Sutton: Tied to an older version. So, yeah, you can certainly do that, but not recommended at all, because,

69
00:11:42.350 –> 00:11:56.380
Bill Sutton: Because you’re not going to have support for that, and you’re not going to get hatches and other such things. So, the best thing to do is get it upgraded to the newest version. We’ll talk about those in a few minutes, before April 15th of 2026, to get this

70
00:11:56.380 –> 00:11:58.010
Bill Sutton: Get this put in place.

71
00:11:59.000 –> 00:12:07.930
Randy.Price: Bill, you probably should mention as well, right, because we’re talking about on-prem environments, you know, we have some customers that may have an air-gapped environment, and how do they handle that?

72
00:12:07.930 –> 00:12:08.720
Bill Sutton: Good point.

73
00:12:09.750 –> 00:12:11.039
Randy.Price: Sort of scenario.

74
00:12:11.470 –> 00:12:17.569
Bill Sutton: Yeah, and my understanding… Todd, do you know? I have a general understanding, but I just didn’t know if you knew any more.

75
00:12:18.820 –> 00:12:33.040
Todd Smith – Citrix: This sounds like a… this sounds like an ideal public sector question. But yes, realizing there are some customers in the public sector, but also in the private sector as well, that runs in an air-gapped environment, where they don’t have connections to…

76
00:12:33.170 –> 00:12:34.550
Todd Smith – Citrix: do a…

77
00:12:34.580 –> 00:12:46.769
Todd Smith – Citrix: license activation, directly over the internet, right? So, we do have an option that’s available. It has to be… it has to go through an approval process for that.

78
00:12:46.770 –> 00:12:56.689
Todd Smith – Citrix: You just can’t say, hey, we’re not going to allow this to connect in. There has to be some justification done for that, but it will allow you to have what’s called

79
00:12:56.690 –> 00:13:10.869
Todd Smith – Citrix: Dark side or dark mode, which basically allows you to have a license file that actually gets downloaded to your license server, as long as there are, you know, it still has to have a valid license.

80
00:13:10.950 –> 00:13:19.109
Todd Smith – Citrix: In the entitlement, but there are some options available. There’s an option available for customers who,

81
00:13:19.530 –> 00:13:30.820
Todd Smith – Citrix: are not allowed to connect, to, you know, any of the… any of the clouds or any of the cloud services. Very similar to what we’ve done with some of our telemetry

82
00:13:30.890 –> 00:13:49.250
Todd Smith – Citrix: information, right? There are very similar customers that don’t allow telemetry to go off-site, or off their network. So we do have some… we do have some options available. But once again, it is on a case-by-case basis, and we will…

83
00:13:49.510 –> 00:13:54.170
Todd Smith – Citrix: Kind of make sure that we work with the customer directly on how to… how to make that happen.

84
00:13:54.650 –> 00:14:00.189
Randy.Price: And with those… and Todd, just, because one thing that comes to mind, right, when we talk about that from an air-gapped environment.

85
00:14:00.230 –> 00:14:15.229
Randy.Price: is the same sort of requirements going to be in play as far as the customer has to have one of these updated versions, being able to support license activation service, but also being able to take advantage of that exception, if you will, if it gets approved from Citrix?

86
00:14:15.850 –> 00:14:16.470
Todd Smith – Citrix: Yep.

87
00:14:16.700 –> 00:14:17.250
Randy.Price: Nope.

88
00:14:18.890 –> 00:14:25.489
Todd Smith – Citrix: Yeah, and that’s a critical part, right? We want to make sure that customers can continue to use our product in

89
00:14:25.740 –> 00:14:36.839
Todd Smith – Citrix: maintain a level of support for that. We’re not looking to say, hey, you can’t meet these requirements, so you’re not allowed to do it. But we want to make sure that, you know, we’re…

90
00:14:37.360 –> 00:14:42.670
Todd Smith – Citrix: The air gap through the telemetry exceptions are… are there for a reason.

91
00:14:42.820 –> 00:14:47.140
Todd Smith – Citrix: So we can certainly do that.

92
00:14:47.770 –> 00:14:54.940
Bill Sutton: Yeah, and another thing that I’ve read, Todd, and keep me honest here, is if you, as a customer, renew your license today.

93
00:14:55.040 –> 00:15:07.890
Bill Sutton: it’s gonna have a term date of April 15th, 2026, if it’s a… if it’s an on-prem… if you do an on-prem license, assuming you can even get that anymore. But if you get a license file today from… from the license system.

94
00:15:07.890 –> 00:15:13.380
Bill Sutton: If you’re able to do that, it would be termed April 15th, 2026, so you will have to register in the

95
00:15:13.380 –> 00:15:35.519
Bill Sutton: with the license activation service by then. Ideally, what we’re recommending is that customers go ahead and get ahead of this, and start the process now, get their license server upgraded, make sure their versions are at the… or their products are at the right version numbers, and go ahead and register with the service and get it in place so that you have nothing to worry about in April of next year.

96
00:15:36.120 –> 00:15:42.330
Todd Smith – Citrix: Correct, and part of that registration is going out and making sure you can actually connect to that license activation service

97
00:15:42.480 –> 00:15:56.919
Todd Smith – Citrix: Right. To be able to make sure that’s a clean, environment. Because the thing is, almost every single customer has some uniqueness around things like firewall settings and access controls and things like that. We want to make sure that we have, you know.

98
00:15:57.100 –> 00:16:05.369
Todd Smith – Citrix: Well, we’re looking at more than 6 months of planning… of time between now and April 15th, so, you know, you do have some,

99
00:16:06.010 –> 00:16:08.359
Todd Smith – Citrix: Some time to get prepared and things like that.

100
00:16:08.640 –> 00:16:09.180
Bill Sutton : Oui.

101
00:16:09.530 –> 00:16:10.320
Bill Sutton: So…

102
00:16:10.320 –> 00:16:12.580
Todd Smith – Citrix: I’m 7 months out, as of today.

103
00:16:12.670 –> 00:16:20.119
Bill Sutton: Exactly. Yeah, so, another consideration that I was thinking of while you were talking is,

104
00:16:20.190 –> 00:16:44.279
Bill Sutton: that you want to make sure that, with the firewall ports that are to be open, the other… need to be open. The other thing is, you’ll need to have… you’ll need to register, if you’re not already registered with Citrix Cloud, make sure you have an account there and get registered with Citrix Cloud, because you’ll need that to connect the license server to… to activate the license server between the on-prem and the cloud. So some customers that might be on-prem that have never had a cloud account.

105
00:16:44.340 –> 00:16:49.550
Bill Sutton: We’ll need to activate, register for, and leverage that account to activate the service.

106
00:16:50.350 –> 00:17:01.929
Todd Smith – Citrix: And every customer who’s running Universal Hybrid Multi-Cloud, or even some of our old DAS customers, are… they have an active cloud account, and all they need to do is

107
00:17:02.290 –> 00:17:20.539
Todd Smith – Citrix: sign into it. Sign in. It does bring forward a couple of additional benefits. If you’re connecting to the cloud control plane and the cloud consoles, it’s a great place to go and get updated information. There’s a very proactive

108
00:17:20.660 –> 00:17:29.499
Todd Smith – Citrix: Capability built into it for notifications around, hey, there’s, there’s notifications around updated product changes,

109
00:17:29.670 –> 00:17:40.070
Todd Smith – Citrix: Vulnerabilities, new support bundles that are out there, a variety of different tools that can be accessed via that cloud control plane and that cloud console.

110
00:17:40.940 –> 00:17:41.500
Bill Sutton : Oui.

111
00:17:42.570 –> 00:17:56.749
Bill Sutton: Okay, so I wanted to bring one other thing, and that’s really the end of the blog article, but I wanted to bring one other thing up here. We at Zentegra, as I mentioned, some of you on listening to this may have received an email from us that points to a,

112
00:17:56.780 –> 00:18:14.980
Bill Sutton: landing page we have on our website that covers this… this new change, or this change. And I know we wanted to talk about version requirements. Randy, you want to go through this at all? Maybe talk briefly about, version requirements that we have posted there, and then maybe one or two other things under the planning section.

113
00:18:15.230 –> 00:18:37.660
Randy.Price: Sure, yeah, I can cover that. So, again, you know, whether you’re using Citrix for private cloud, or UHMC, but you’re utilizing some of these entitlements on-prem, or maybe, you know, you’ve went through a renewal, still a Citrix DAS customer, right? Depending upon what your entitlement is and what… which one of these solutions you’re running on-prem, there’s just some

114
00:18:37.660 –> 00:18:42.130
Randy.Price: some things to take into consideration. One being the license server. So, if you’re using

115
00:18:42.130 –> 00:18:53.630
Randy.Price: Citrix Virtual Apps and Desktops, or Zen Server, right, or PBS, all those will point to a license server, so we need to make sure we’re running 11.17.2, build 51000 or higher.

116
00:18:53.630 –> 00:19:06.040
Randy.Price: So that’s… that’s the first thing, right? And that’s going to allow us to, again, register with the license activation service. That also means, though, from a supportability perspective, and,

117
00:19:06.550 –> 00:19:25.079
Randy.Price: To take advantage of that and some of the code that’s been changed to support the license activation features, on the Citrix side, on the Citrix virtual apps and desktops, the current release needs to be 2411 or higher, or on the LTSR, if you’re running an LTSR version, the supported LTSR versions are 2203CU7.

118
00:19:25.200 –> 00:19:33.260
Randy.Price: 2402CU3, and of course, the latest 2507. The License Activation Service has been incorporated into all of those as well.

119
00:19:34.740 –> 00:19:40.129
Randy.Price: I’ll skip the net scalers, jump down to the Zen server, just because all of these kind of tie into the license server piece, right?

120
00:19:40.130 –> 00:19:40.720
Bill Sutton : C'est vrai.

121
00:19:40.920 –> 00:19:43.899
Randy.Price: On the license server side as well,

122
00:19:44.010 –> 00:19:53.479
Randy.Price: or excuse me, the Zen Server side, we want to be running version 8.4 with updates, dated after, you know, dated August 21st.

123
00:19:53.720 –> 00:20:10.879
Randy.Price: 2025 early access, or after August 28th, right? Either normal or on, excuse me, normal or offline, do support the live service as well. And then as well, we need to make sure we’ve updated Zen Center, excuse me, to 2025.3 or later.

124
00:20:10.970 –> 00:20:21.720
Randy.Price: If you’re running Unicon, Unicon Scout, that’s, 25.08 LTSR or later for supportability. And,

125
00:20:21.860 –> 00:20:40.820
Randy.Price: if you scroll back up on the Netscaler side, and we talked about PBS, right? And that’s really utilizing from a CVAD perspective as well. On the Netscaler side, on the ADCs, there’s a couple of different firmware versions here, 14.151.x, 13.1.60.x on the firmware side. If you’re using FIPS,

126
00:20:40.930 –> 00:20:47.479
Randy.Price: If you’ve got a FIPS-based appliance, that’s 13.1.37.x will support the last,

127
00:20:47.880 –> 00:20:58.210
Randy.Price: service as well. If you’re running Netscaler console on-prem, right, that’s 14.1.51.x as well. Netscaler Console service, that’s gonna be…

128
00:20:58.310 –> 00:21:11.669
Randy.Price: And the notes that was released from the FAQ specifically from Citrix was that was going to be updated automatically, so you guys don’t really have to worry about any of that if you’re using the Netscaler service, just need to make sure your Netscalers themselves have been updated, those instances.

129
00:21:11.790 –> 00:21:15.679
Randy.Price: And the SEM, as well, sort of follows the same… same…

130
00:21:15.680 –> 00:21:33.829
Bill Sutton: We will include the link to this article in the show notes, the podcast notes. I’ll make sure that Chase adds that in, so you should be able to see it on your… in the notes on your podcast, service of choice. A few things we pointed out in this article, some timelines and milestones.

131
00:21:33.830 –> 00:21:39.400
Bill Sutton: Obviously, between now and the end of the… or the end of Q4 of this year,

132
00:21:39.710 –> 00:21:51.130
Bill Sutton: Customers really need to do discovery, planning, version gap analysis, and then firewall and connectivity validation, like Todd mentioned, making sure that you can reach the license activation service

133
00:21:51.130 –> 00:22:10.859
Bill Sutton: And then Q126 at the latest, that’s the latest you should start doing this. Make sure you get upgrade projects in motion, get registered with LAS. Nothing to say you can’t do this earlier. You can start doing this tomorrow, to be honest. And then test and validate, and then be prepared to have everything cut over before April 15th, 2026.

134
00:22:11.750 –> 00:22:12.630
Randy.Price: Let’s group.

135
00:22:13.230 –> 00:22:25.530
Bill Sutton: And then, of course, we talk about how Zentegra can help. We can help with, obviously, any planning or assessment. We can help customers execute this, and then help understand how to work with it going forward.

136
00:22:25.670 –> 00:22:45.419
Bill Sutton: So, one thing we haven’t discussed, that we probably ought to, and hopefully one of you… one or both of you guys, I think you both will know the answers. I’ll get mixed up on them, so don’t… I’m not going to try. What happens if the license server goes down, or becomes unavailable? What happens to my CVAD environment? I know customers are going to ask that.

137
00:22:47.880 –> 00:22:49.299
Randy.Price: Todd, do you want to take that one, or…

138
00:22:49.940 –> 00:23:05.610
Todd Smith – Citrix: Sure. So, we have had a capability called localhost cache for a long period of time, right? Which basically says that if my on-prem environment loses a connection, or if I somehow, lose my connection to my license server.

139
00:23:05.760 –> 00:23:07.970
Todd Smith – Citrix: Current connections.

140
00:23:08.080 –> 00:23:14.849
Todd Smith – Citrix: are still maintained via that local host cache. That capability is staying around.

141
00:23:15.860 –> 00:23:25.610
Todd Smith – Citrix: What it also… what this also allows us to do is the license activation service allows us to very quickly spin up additional licensed servers

142
00:23:25.770 –> 00:23:29.420
Todd Smith – Citrix: Deploy them on… deploy them into a customer’s environment.

143
00:23:30.170 –> 00:23:34.160
Todd Smith – Citrix: Without having to go through you know.

144
00:23:34.950 –> 00:23:46.640
Todd Smith – Citrix: going through any of the changes to the licensing model itself, right? So being able to go and say, you know, I need to deallocate the license from this server and move it over to another license activation server makes that very streamlined.

145
00:23:48.450 –> 00:23:49.090
Bill Sutton : C'est vrai.

146
00:23:49.930 –> 00:24:06.279
Bill Sutton: So, one of the things it says in the… one of the linked articles to the blog article is that if the endpoint, which I presume the endpoint is an on-prem license server, if that becomes unreachable by CVAD or some other product, it’ll… like Todd said, with the concept of the local host cache.

147
00:24:06.280 –> 00:24:18.859
Bill Sutton: It caches the license file, and it will operate for up to 30 days until you bring another license server online, or that one becomes reachable again. So, kind of a similar thing to what we’ve seen in the past.

148
00:24:18.860 –> 00:24:34.219
Bill Sutton: If you go back 10 years, when all we had was an on-prem environment, that was generally the rule, was 30 days of functionality in the absence of a licensed server. If you go to the 31st day, then you’re going to have an issue. Users won’t be able to access it in all likelihood.

149
00:24:35.960 –> 00:24:41.300
Todd Smith – Citrix: Yeah, Bill, I think the interesting thing is… is that you know, we’re…

150
00:24:41.490 –> 00:24:45.379
Todd Smith – Citrix: We’re now introducing a lot of fault tolerance built into… Yeah.

151
00:24:46.310 –> 00:25:01.649
Todd Smith – Citrix: built into just the service itself, as opposed to having to go out and have a fault-tolerant solution across each one of my customer environments, right? The service is now fault-tolerant, as are most cloud services, where

152
00:25:01.960 –> 00:25:12.710
Todd Smith – Citrix: you don’t have to worry about, you know, do I have a DR plan, do I have a backup and recovery plan, right? It’s, you know, it’s one less thing that a customer has to worry about.

153
00:25:13.080 –> 00:25:28.299
Todd Smith – Citrix: At the same time, it’s also giving the telemetry information and the, you know, the who, what, when, and how the customers or the users are actually utilizing the system. We’ve seen a lot of customers ask for things like.

154
00:25:28.460 –> 00:25:29.310
Todd Smith – Citrix: Well…

155
00:25:29.550 –> 00:25:45.619
Todd Smith – Citrix: I have to implement a chargeback model, or I’m moving towards a shared services model. The key components of those is you have to have active and accurate telemetry information that you can utilize and you can feed into your accounting system to do things like chargebacks or

156
00:25:45.620 –> 00:25:49.789
Todd Smith – Citrix: Or being able to say, hey, this is how much a user session

157
00:25:50.700 –> 00:25:59.219
Todd Smith – Citrix: or a user accessing a published application, this is how frequently they’re using it. Compare that to things like the cost model associated with that.

158
00:25:59.380 –> 00:25:59.910
Bill Sutton : C'est vrai.

159
00:26:01.580 –> 00:26:02.600
Bill Sutton: Certainly.

160
00:26:03.040 –> 00:26:22.270
Bill Sutton: So, we’re at the end of the article and some of the other things that we had prepared for today, so I just wanted to mention one last thing before we close out. Obviously, this time, this event to update licensing and register with the online service is a good time to reevaluate your environment.

161
00:26:22.280 –> 00:26:34.299
Bill Sutton: And what I mean by that is if you’re a… obviously, if you’re a… an on-premises, fully on-premises customer with on-premises licensing, like the old CVAD licensing, or what they call Citrix for Private Cloud today.

162
00:26:34.300 –> 00:26:49.039
Bill Sutton: It’s a good time to, make sure you’ve got all your patches installed, and make sure that everything’s up to date before you do make this switch, so you don’t have any issues. And if you’re a UHMC customer with an on-prem environment, obviously the same principle applies, but…

163
00:26:49.070 –> 00:27:05.790
Bill Sutton: You’re also entitled to a lot of things you may not know you’re entitled to. Things for monitoring, like Uber Agent, or a thin client operating system, like Unicon, some more security capabilities with device trust, and various other things that I’m leaving out.

164
00:27:05.790 –> 00:27:16.539
Bill Sutton: But, nevertheless, any… we can help you understand your entitlements, how to take advantage of them, how to get them implemented, how to do a POC, if you want to do a POC of any of these.

165
00:27:16.540 –> 00:27:32.060
Bill Sutton: So that’s a… this is a great time to do that. So please let us help you. You can always reach out to your Zentegra account rep, or you can reach out to myself or Randy. And obviously, you can reach out to Citrix if you have questions about any of these entitlements, of course, always.

166
00:27:32.110 –> 00:27:35.719
Bill Sutton: So that’s all I had. Guys, do you have any final thoughts? Todd?

167
00:27:37.500 –> 00:27:47.200
Todd Smith – Citrix: I think having the… having an opportunity to do some assessment and assessing of the current environment and moving forward is always a good thing to do.

168
00:27:47.200 –> 00:27:59.299
Todd Smith – Citrix: I can’t tell you the number of times customers have reached out and said, hey, what’s this new feature do, or how come I… how come I haven’t got this running yet? Or how come I… you know, what… what entitlement do I need?

169
00:27:59.450 –> 00:28:16.890
Todd Smith – Citrix: to do this, and, you know, most customers are on Universal Hybrid Multi-Cloud, which means they pretty much have almost everything that’s available. There’s a few things that are add-ons for a platform license, but for the most part, everything customers need are in their current entitlement.

170
00:28:17.470 –> 00:28:33.959
Todd Smith – Citrix: And they’re not just… they’re just not using. Things like watermarking or session recording, those are capabilities that most customers have… don’t have an idea about what it would take to actually turn that on, and what the value of having those things are.

171
00:28:34.070 –> 00:28:44.830
Todd Smith – Citrix: And then also being able to take an assessment and say, you know, where are my gaps in my coverage? Where are my… where… what am I running as far as…

172
00:28:45.420 –> 00:28:52.820
Todd Smith – Citrix: Legacy applications, or as an opportunity to stabilize, optimize, and modernize.

173
00:28:53.310 –> 00:28:54.650
Bill Sutton: Yep, absolutely.

174
00:28:54.770 –> 00:28:56.409
Bill Sutton: Randy, you have any final thoughts?

175
00:28:56.600 –> 00:29:05.490
Randy.Price: Yeah, I was just gonna… I was just gonna tell in onto what Todd was saying there. You know, specifically, I kind of mentioned earlier the complementary micro-assessments, right? So I definitely want to bring that up again, because

176
00:29:05.490 –> 00:29:18.439
Randy.Price: To your point, that’s one of the things I typically engage with customers on, is just talking around what’s included in their entitlements, whether it’s, like you said, session recording, workspace Environment Manager, Device Trust, right? All of those newer

177
00:29:18.910 –> 00:29:36.119
Randy.Price: acquisitions as of late with Unicon and Uber Agent as well, and how they play into, you know, customers’ environment and the benefits that they get by utilizing those services. So, definitely if there’s anyone interested in that, be sure to,

178
00:29:36.130 –> 00:29:54.600
Randy.Price: to sign up for one of those, you can reach out to your Zentegra rep if you are interested in pursuing those, or there’s more information on our website as well. And going back to the, you know, the license activation piece, like I said, you know, really this is a pretty simple sort of

179
00:29:54.850 –> 00:30:11.730
Randy.Price: change, if you will, from a licensing perspective, in the sense that we’re just going out and activating. The more the planning is around just ensuring that we’re running the correct versions, right, to be able to support this, and that we’re taking that. And so that typically will require a little bit of planning, ensuring that we’re running supported versions.

180
00:30:11.730 –> 00:30:20.850
Randy.Price: Ensuring that we have the firewall rules in place and things of this nature. And again, we can help you guys with all of that, so definitely reach out if there’s any questions or concerns.

181
00:30:21.490 –> 00:30:22.050
Bill Sutton : Oui.

182
00:30:22.480 –> 00:30:27.829
Bill Sutton: All right, gentlemen, thank you so much for joining today. Thank you, listeners. I will be back again next week.

183
00:30:28.510 –> 00:30:30.129
Randy.Price: Thank you, guys.
